A Declaration of Value (DoV) is a document issued by Italian authorities that attests to the authenticity of a foreign academic qualification. It is required for Italian employers and universities to recognize the qualification for admission, employment, or other purposes.
The DoV is issued by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) of the Italian Republic. The DoV certificate states that the qualification is authentic and that it is equivalent to an Italian qualification of the same level. The DoV does not certify the quality or content of the qualification, but it only certifies its authenticity.
To obtain a DoV, the applicant must submit a copy of the original academic qualification, a CV, and a letter of motivation. The application is then evaluated by a panel of experts from the MIUR who will verify the authenticity of the qualification and its equivalency to the Italian qualification.
Once the DoV is issued, the applicant must present the document to the employer or university in order to receive recognition of the qualification. It is important to note that the DoV does not replace the original foreign qualification, but it is used in addition to the original document.
